For Kallie

I just want to take a moment to remember my puppy and sister, Kallie, who passed away a year ago. She was a part of my family for 14 years and not a day goes by when we aren’t reminded of her loving disposition and her constant desire to be the best dog in the world, which she was.

The reason we are reminded of our Kallie every day is because her spirit came back to us in the form of our two new Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Samantha and Delilah. Samantha is our pleaser, eager to always do as she is told and running to meet you whenever you call. She is Kallie in form as well, from her slender body to the pattern of her fur. Delilah is our spoiled princess. Her innocent puppy eyes are always begging for more attention and love, just like Kallie. She is Kallie in her face, from her expressions to her big, round eyes.

We are so blessed to have “Sam and Beans” (as I affectionately refer to them) in our lives, but they are also a constant reminder of our first puppy love. They are full of energy and love and represent the happiness that life is supposed to be, a happiness that was missing from our lives when we lost Kallie, but has returned to us once more.

I love you, Kallie. And I will miss you no matter how long you are gone.
